After a beautiful spring week in Paris we hopped on a bus and headed into Belgium. We arrived in Brussels to weather that was much colder and grayer than what we had in Paris and London, but even with overcast skies it didn’t take too long to see what a beautiful city Brussels is, with lots of beautiful old ...continue reading
Okay, I know the title of this blog post is basically the worst, but I couldn’t think of anything cleverer and also I’m not terribly original. To wit: This awful black and white photostrip of us in a photobooth at a movie theatre in Paris. Mark is mostly kissing my scarf, since I don’t believe in PDA.
We spent a week in Paris, in an apartment we rented in ...continue reading
Hello from Ho Chi Minh City, formerly known as Saigon. We have big news, but I’ll string you along to the end of the post to reveal it. It does NOT involve babies, so you can all just keep your pants on.
After arriving in Hoi An, we mostly just did a whole lot of walking, eating, and having clothes made at the tailors. Oh, and we had some massages. It was all pretty ...continue reading
Hello ladies and germs! My god, I am hilarious.
Guys, please comment on my blogs. Mark gets all the love and I have resorted to begging. I will respond to anyone who comments with a personalized compliment and/or treasured memory about them that I would have otherwise kept to myself. Incentive!
We are in Hue, Vietnam now ...continue reading
After three and a half weeks in Japan, I no longer have Turning Japanese in my head 24 hours a day; it’s been replaced by Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots by The Flaming Lips. Oh Japanese-inspired pop ...continue reading
Hello all! I’m writing this from Hong Kong International Airport, as we wait to board a flight to Tokyo. Mark is sitting next to me learning how to say the phrase “I am not Japanese” in Japanese. The past week has been an insane blur of planes and jetlag and delicious food.
We left Vancouver on Monday morning, after ...continue reading
We’re home! And, um, have been for almost two weeks. I kind of forgot about this blog as soon as we drove off the ferry. The promise of free laundry, a home-cooked meal and some interaction with humans besides each other has been like a warm balm to our road-weary souls. Maybe that’s a touch dramatic, but if I never again ...continue reading
We drove South-East from Boston (Bahhston) to Cape Cod (Cape Cahhd), a New England summer vacation hotspot (hahht… well, you get the picture). Despite the fact that it was pouring rain as we drove out to the cape, it was easy to see why it’s such a popular destination. The towns are all adorable, full of colonial-style buildings, artisan shops, and (at the end ...continue reading
We arrived in Montreal at about 1:00 in the afternoon and by dinner time we were thoroughly charmed and already labeling it a place we could happily live. We rented a little studio apartment on the plateau, which turned out to be a fantastic location (mostly by sheer luck, since availability was limited for vacation rentals when we went to book it) allowing us to walk basically everywhere we ...continue reading
After a chunk of time in the US, I have to say it feels good to be back in the Great White North basking in the warm glow of the metric system, multi-coloured money, and unnecessary apologies. We came back into Canada trough Detroit and into Windsor, Ontario, where we had lunch with my Uncle’s sister, her son ...continue reading
